About

Who am I?

In a nutshell, I’m a writer and philosopher who facilitates nature journaling and writing workshops.  I invite people to join me in exploring our connection with our higher selves, each other, and the natural world through the written word and nature exploration.

More broadly, I am an autistic woman with ADHD and cPTSD who has utilized writing, nature, and self-reflection to manage my symptoms. I know from personal experience and working with others how these practices can be used to manage and learn from life’s challenges, no matter your background.

I’ve had a diverse career ranging from river rafting guide to park ranger to workshop facilitator, but everything I’ve done has orbited around helping people connect to the natural world.  As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that teaching people about nature doesn’t necessarily help them develop a personal connection with it.  I want to move away from nature as object and towards nature as companion.  I advocate for reciprocal relationships with the plant and animal beings whom we observe and interact with.

In 2022, I earned my certification as an instructor of the “Amherst Writers Method.”  I chose this style of workshop facilitation because the focus is on the experience of writing rather than producing books or articles.  In my workshops, we get to know ourselves and each other through the observations we make and the questions we ask about the world around us and our experience in it.  This takes the pressure off our writing and allows us to delve into topics that interest us.  This, in turn, allows our voices to shine, and our ability to create amazing work grows naturally, instead of by force.

I’m based in the southwest corner of Washington State, but I am available to travel and I offer opportunities to connect online.
